Thanksgiving 2012

While we live abroad now, we thought it would be fun to bring the Thanksgiving tradition to Switzerland. So Vanessa and I invited some of our best friends to a Thanksgiving meal, which did not disappoint...

Our good friend Marie-France from Canada helped us out, bringing her own holiday (vegetarian) traditions.

And this is how we spent the day cooking... reading recipes off of an iPhone, sipping rosé wine, and using butter... lots of butta!

The centerpiece was a chapon or capon (literally: a castrated domestic cock fattened for eating). Seriously, that's the biggest turkey I could find... It pails in comparison to the ones we find in North America, but heck, it was delicious!

Because the turkey was on the smaller size, Blaise whipped up some of his famous crock-pot pulled pork. Oh my... so gooood!

Somehow, we ended up with a Western/Christmas-themed decorated table. Don't ask me why, but it worked.

And lots of side dishes!

Ta-da! (x2, at least!)

Very thankful indeed.
